I used to be a blogger, did you know that?
Once upon a time, I moved to Ireland and blogged my way through that experience. I garnered a decent following and folks tuned in for all the updates of a twenty-something looking to follow a life long dream (and maybe also find a hunky Irish husband to settle down with). It was interesting enough that folks stuck with me even after I returned home and settled down with the Greek fella from Cape Cod that I ended up marrying (“Navy” was and continues to be his nickname for online purposes). Now don’t panic; you’ll be happy to know he does indeed have some Irish in his bloodline as well. Phew. Anyway, that blog ran its course as the world moved away from blogs and, Navy and I had two kids in rapid succession all while I built this wonderful Irish Eyes empire. Needless to say, I was too busy and blogs were dying. Not a helpful combo.
So why the return to writing in a bloggy-type way?
We connect so well through my client newsletters and social media so why do I need to add this? Honestly I was going to do this last year but decided what we had was enough. It’s been nagging at me though and I think this is a good move. I thought about making this a part of our regular newsletters but I like this better for two reasons:
1: Newsletters can stay as they are: important updates for the business (ie when/where sessions are/what’s coming up/etc). I don’t want to clunk up your inbox so I like that those can be just for the information you NEED to know.
2: Since a lot of my posts here are going to be on helpful topics, I want you to be able to search them. If I send a newletter about what to wear to my current clients, and two years later, you subscribe, you missed that newsletter. Here, you can search for it through the archives. Woot woot!
But why not keep this to social media?
Honestly, I really don’t love social media. I mean, don’t get me wrong - I LOVE social media. But that love/addiction/deep dive into the pit of distraction is so very bad for me and I know it. I also know that half of you don’t see my stuff even when you want to - the algorithm is a beast that is constantly changing and it’s hard to keep up. With Meta leaning further and further into scary territories, I like the idea of setting this up as a new, cleaner, less scary way to connect. Plus, here I own all my work. I like the idea of giving Meta less access to me. If this succeeds, maybe I can shut those accounts down for good. Oh that would be so good for my/our soul(s).
So what should you expect?
I am going to try to post something every Monday. I have a list of topics I’ve been meaning to share my thoughts on with you for years (literally; every year I have to re-write the list in my new planner because I never did it the year before. Tsk, tsk). Telling you it’ll be on Mondays will keep me accountable. On a personal note, I’ve spent the last few years working what can only be described as an unpaid second job maintaining the care of my mother who suffered from Lewy body Dementia. Even though my sister did most of the hands-on work while Mum was still at home, and then the nursing home took care of that when she moved in, I was in charge of allllll the paperwork, medicare, medicaid, yada yada yada and it was RELENTLESS. She passed away in December and that means I have a little wiggle room to breathe and create. This is one of the ways I look forward to creating. I love writing and I’d love to share that with you.
Free…for now?
By subscribing right now, you don’t have to pay anything. I don’t know that this’ll be something I’ll need to charge folks for but if it turns into something worth asking a small subscription fee for in the future, I may try it out. For now though, I just want you to hit subscribe if it feels like you’re interested in seeing what I have to say. You can hit the “Subscribe” button below to join the ride. You’ll get an email in your mailbox whenever I post (and I can safely say for now it will be no more than once a week. If I can stick to that schedule I’ll be delighted with myself.

So, let’s try this out.
One of my favorite things about substack is that YOU can reply. I love engaging with you. I love hearing your thoughts and questions. Let’s see if this works. If you have ideas for what you’d like me to write about, drop a comment below.
Away we go! See you Monday!
Ohhh, yes, let’s ditch meta. Maybe I should start a blog too!
